Christian Marclay In Print

Objective / Brief: This was the final project for my fundamentals of design class, where we where tasked with researching a modern contemporary artist and creating a lookbook for the artist. The lookbook was to include 5 page spreads created in Adobe InDesign, front and back cover, and generated written content. The main goal of this project was to represent the creativity and work of the artist in an informative and engaging lookbook.

Creative Solution: I chose to design my lookbook for the modern contemporary artist, Christian Marclay. This was a personal choice of mine because of his unique creative process and incorporations of pop and wider culture. For the lookbook I wanted to make sure to include information and works from his early career to show the totality of his works and make the book more biographical. Following that book ties back to Marclay’s more recent works in printmaking, giving a full glimpse into the artists career and creativity. Marclay’s work can be described as bold and attention grabbing, to convey this through page design, I intentionally designed the page spreads to be loud and engaging. This helps tie together the intended themes and create an enjoyable and interactive reading experience.
